The position is responsible for designs/drafts of complex components, assemblies and finished products for military and commercial customers. Creates and edits bills of material. Interfaces frequently with engineering and manufacturing teammates. Proactively leads continuous improvement initiatives. Provides guidance to designers and senior designers. Effectively influences others.
Essential Duties:
Supports the department by creating a variety of complex mechanical/electrical/electronicdesigns for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems configurationsusing CAD or manual systems
Compiles / prepares Bills of Materials and specifications
Contributes to and drives compliance with engineering playbook including modeling anddrafting standards
Assists in the assembly of prototypes drawing multiple views; depicting relationship ofcomponent and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, andmaterials
Creates documentation required and processes Engineering Change Orders
Ensures adherence to designated quality and cost parameters; using CAD systems
Ensures quality of drawings and functionality of equipment by assisting in thebuilding/acquiring of prototypes; testing and analyzing results; making variouscalculations, such as strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequentlyusing charts and tables;
Analyzes the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems
Recommends possible solutions or alternate construction
Modifies drawings as required; conferring with engineers to resolve issues
Provides assistance to lesser experienced drafters by communicating work prioritiesproviding technical assistance; verifying accuracy of work
Maintains CAD equipment by following manufacturer's instruction and procedures;performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs, as required
Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative andsupportive manner
Distributes work to drafting resources
Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:
Associates degree required in related field orequivalent experience, Bachelors degree preferred.
