We currently have an opening with the Division for Air Quality, Field Operations Branch, Florence Regional Office as an Environmental Scientist I in Boone County.
The work we do at the Kentucky Division for Air Quality has a direct impact on the health, Welfare and economic security of all Kentuckians.
To ensure that economic growth occurs while preserving existing air resources, the Division for Air Quality issues permits that contain all applicable requirements to these important manufacturing facilities.
Holders of the Environmental Scientist I position will complete tasks such as:
Investigate citizen complaints Meet with representatives of facilities and other agencies Research air quality control technologies Determine the applicability of air quality regulations If you are interested in being part of an organization that protects human health and the environment, come join us at the Division for Air Quality.

The preferred candidate will have time management and decision making skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science OR Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 20 semester hours in a natural, biological or physical science.

Experience in natural resources, environmental control, engineering or a related area will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

NONE Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting.
Incumbents in this class may perform work in the field with frequent travel on a statewide basis.
An incumbent in this position may be subject to adverse weather conditions, exposure to snakes and insects, water-borne pathogens, broken glass, rusty metal in streams, and hazards common to operation of electro-fishing equipment, which require the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.
