Senior Engineering Manager

Description GAI Consultants, Inc.
is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to fill the role of Kentucky Transportation Lead, which resides within the Transportation Business Unit.
The ideal candidate will be able to manage the engineering function of an organization, including duties associated with planning engineering programs, reviewing design and method recommendations, and ensuring that engineering activities align with organizational objectives.
This position is expected to be performed onsite from either our Louisville or Florence, KY office and is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
Job Duties :
Develop a business strategy for the growth of the Kentucky Transportation practiceDevelop new clients and businesses, maintain existing client relationships, and manage transportation projects.
Project Management, including delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability of all projects managed.
Plan and manage small to medium-value projects and multiple projects concurrently.
Work closely with Project Accounting to monitor and control project costs and billings to meet budget profit, analyze project performance data, and develop recovery plans as needed.
Track the progress of projects managed by others within the Division to deliver scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability.
Including conducting peer reviews and managing project issues.
Administer operations in accordance with the company's policies, priorities, and budget constraints set forth by senior management.
Implement effective engineering methods and provides technical guidance and act as a resource for engineers.
Occasional travel with minimal overnight stays is required and is expected to be 5-10% of the time.
Project Management
Responsibilities:
Approximately 50% of job duties are dedicated to project management and 20% to technical delivery.
Deliver scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and profitability of all projects managed.
Plan and manage medium to high-value projects, with single or multi-discipline focus and medium to high-risk profile.
Directly manage up to $1 million per year of total billings with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed.
Develop project schedules and cost budgets, understanding project goals and drivers.
Work closely with Project Controls staff to monitor and control project cost and billings to meet budget profit, analyze project performance data on an ongoing basis, and develop recovery plans as needed.
Business Development
Responsibilities:
Up to 20% of job duties may be dedicated to Business Development.
Serve as primary client contact for projects managed.
Actively win new work from existing clients by building and maintaining customer relationships, monitoring future work opportunities, communicating regularly, and attending client events.
Coordinate and develop proposed scope, schedule, and fee for the entire project and participate in the interview team.
Support senior management in contract negotiations with clients.
Experience :
Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering.
Experience in Business Development within the target market.
Experience leading transportation projects.
Perform complex tasks and has some latitude for determining appropriate processes to follow.
Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority over personnel decisions.
Supervision may be provided through a team of subordinate supervisors and/or managers.
Administers departmental policies and procedures evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies.
